It's like some ultimate nexus of modernity, not only celebrating the Bauhaus icon that is the cantilever chair but the museum itself is in the last public commission by Peter and Alison Smithson (of 'the new British Brutalism')

I've still got a few bits left.. Model 1227 c1938 Anglepoise (Herbert Terry & Sons) British lamp design at its finest, original everything even down to the grommets, it's just had a sympathetic re-wire.

That's a nice example you have there.
Old lamps are my weakness my collection is catching up with the bike stuff

We were very lucky to inherit a lot of nice furniture from my wife's side of the family.
Her Nan ran a big B&B in Helensburgh for a while in the 60s ,and her Grandfather furnished the place from auctions in Glasgow.

David Mellor (the cutlery designer not the philandering, pizza eating, tory mp) used to live in my neighbourhood.. his old (self built) place came up for sale a couple of years ago..

Time to drag the tone down. I have two proper French 1950s Bistro chairs. In steamed beech wood. Made at a defunct prison.

The flacking label under the seat said so.

Then they went to what must have been a military premises judging by the amount of black shoe polish all over the front legs - honestly, what kind of individuals curl there ankles around chair legs wearing boots?

Paid a royal 3€ each for them - for something which was once a ubiquitous classic. Re-tightened a few screws, made a sorry attempt to take off the original varnish which ended in tears - jesus wept - it like 8 trillion microns thick and practically impossible to remove. No wonder you can spill red wine all over them till eternity with no adverse effects.

Love them. Will edit the post with pictures.
