Finally bought my first piece of MCM, granted it needs some restoration but given that its 65 years old its in quite remarkable condition. Oswaldo Borsani P40 Lounge Chair produced by Techno, the company he and his brother founded.
Sadly it's dawning on me that restoration will not be possible - the seat and back were formed by cold-foam mold to achieve their shape - no longer available.
I used to have loads when i lived in a big house, when it was cheap af and nobody wanted it ..
I've still got a few bits left.. Model 1227 c1938 Anglepoise (Herbert Terry & Sons) British lamp design at its finest, original everything even down to the grommets, it's just had a sympathetic re-wire
..It's sat on top of my mid-century wallnut and teak sideboard by Gunther Hoffstead for Uniflex
Restored and re-covered 1960's lounge chair by Polish designer Edmund Homa (Royal Danish academy of fine arts) .. modeled here by Leonard the cat
Late 50's Danish rosewood triangular side table by Illum Wikkelsø for CFC Silkeborg.. yes, i know the windows need cleaning
It was embarrassingly expensive .. yet still a fraction of the cost of the offerings on IstDibs
1960 Jørgen Bækmark oak armchair for FDB Mobler, reupolstered in a tangerine Danish Kvadrat fabric.. ignore the missing architrive, it's only been like that for 6yrs
..more Lenny content
Ercol Model 354.. lovely bit of elm with beach legs.. everyone's nan had a set of these
Blue label so 1954 to 1976
.. i might post some more if the thread gets some traction..
Very nice. Love mid century Danish chairs and cats. Also a big fan of wall units such as Cadovius, ladderax etc. I can see a common link between my love of retro bikes and furniture
I have a few mid century pieces scattered about the place, I'll try to remember to snap some pics when I'm home. Mostly Canadian manufacturers, as the Danish stuff is pretty unattainable here, and once upon a time, we actually made quality things in North America.
