Anyone here shellac their bar tape?

Shellac sanding sealer from a wood finishing company. It is shellac in meths and is used for french polishing cabinetwork. Try woodturning suppliers or any french polisher should have some

I've done a few. Traditionally you need the shellac flakes which you dilute with clear meths spirit around 50/50 and 'proper' cotton tape like Tressorex or Newbaums. Let it fully dry between coats and give it around 5/7 coats. It seems to stay permanently tacky if you don't let it dry between. You can always recoat after a few months, you should end up with a waterproof, durable tape.
