Anyone have a Van Nicholas?

Bad karma. I have broken my back wheel. A spoke has snapped and I lack the skill to straighten it.

So, I thought a new bike might be the answer. I'm not ready for a plastic bike yet but thought titanium may be the answer.

Does anyone have a road Van Nicholas? I was thinking maybe this model: http://vannicholas.com/4/Zephyr/bike.aspx with a Di2 groupset.

Anyone got one or seen one?

They had a couple in edinburgh cycles near me. I really liked them, and was very tempted but got my bob jackson instead (I know not the same really ).

Heard ample positive things about Van Nic (and indeed their predecessors Airborne - a former clubmate had a Zeppelin road bike which he really liked) but few negative ones, so if you fancy a punt on a Ti bike, worth going for.

wouldn't just replacing the back wheel on your current bike be a hell of a lot cheaper?

I once had a slow puncture and some mud on my tyre so I bought one of their Zion MTB models. The frame is nicely made and I was at a bike show not so long back and they had one of the TT frames there - very nicely done. Life-time warranty as well on the frames for the original purchaser.

If I was in the market for a new road bike I would be on their website - since my MTB was bought they had added a few more models to their line up and there are some really nice bikes on there.

As far as Ti goes, there are obviously more established names and so on but they can also be v.expensive. I think for the money they are really good and wouldn't hesitate buying another one from them.

Enigma esprit has a better looking frame IMHO if your water bottle is empty and you need to change the bike LOL

Doesn't everyone replace their bike once the tyres are worn out? I have taken the wheel to be rebuilt as I had it almost perfect when another spoke went.

I have that new bike nagging sensation. Steel is nice, the one I have now is 853 but, in my mind I can hear it rusting. Then on holiday, I bought a Cycling Plus and it had an article on Ultimate Super Bikes or something. Apart from one, they were all sub 1Kg carbon super weave, blah, blah. Wonderful bits of engineering but not for me.

The odd one out was a VN with electronic shifting and it looked lovely. It didn't even have cable stops as it has been built with only Di2 in mind. Also, at 3.5K it was actually half the price of the others.

I want a super bike whilst I'm still young enough to pedal the thing. I saw one today at the local Lesiure Lakes. It was only the base model but still looked a quality machine.

I'm off to throw away the shoes I wore on last night's ride.
