Anyone ever heard of a Raleigh Rocky?

I recently picked up a Raleigh "Rocky." I've never heard of this model. Has a Canadian bike shop sticker on it. Looks to be c. 1985 or so. Has dark red metallic paint, and a chrome tange fork (which probably isn't original). Components are Suntour XC thumbies, XC rear derailleur, and AX front derailleur. Magura motorcycle style levers with cantilever brakes marked "-STAR" with a little picture of a star before the word. Raleigh hubs and Sumo rims. Dual-clamp stem reminiscent of bull-moose style with a wide Nitto riser bar. Sugino AT cranks. Raleigh 502MT frame tubes. Serial appears is M5-F0898.
Anyone have any ideas? The rear spokes were trashed, but I picked up the bike for next to nothing so I'm trying my first wheel build on it.

While rebuilding the BB, I saw the spindle was stamped "Hatta 11 87." If that's a date code, I guess that puts this bike at a 1988 model. Anybody know the timeframe Raleigh used 502MT steel in their bikes?
