Anyone a Dawes Expert?

I have a frame in the loft, (pics when I next venture up there) which I am 95% sure is a Dawes. The original paint definitely had a purple element to it and some of the 'welds' appear to have a fillet brazed nature.
Did Dawes do a high end frame (thinking the Edge) that matches the above description?
Is it possible to do anything to dodgy bottom bracket threads. A Shimano bracket didn't appear to fit so a FAG unit is in there at the moment. I had it powder coated and built it up for the wife in the mid 90's although the frame is much older than that.

I've got a mid 90's Double Edge (tandem) and yes, it's definitely fillet brazed. So it sounds right.

As for the BB threads, try getting your LBS or framebuilder to just run a tap the threads - it's often amazing what cleaning them up can do to improve matters. Also, cartridge BBs seem less sensitive IME on threads once fitted. Just make sure you get a good BB and fit it very, very carefully.

I had a couple of Dawes in the early '90s. Some of the higher end ones had Dawes embossed on the flat at the top of the seat stay where it met the seat tube.

Also my local Dawes shop preferred a FAG bottom bracket to the Shimano ones. Maybe there was a distributor pushing them at the time.
