I remember finding a Bates frame in a skip at the tip, in the days when they let me climb in to get it....! No forks though, unfortunately, but still.

I love the fork elongated spears on the crown. Trouble is with this, you would never get those transfers again, so any repaint would have to somehow mask them off :?

What's the 'standard' rear spacing on something like this...?

I'm not sure that's rust, it looks brassy. I reckon there was a brazed on cable stop to complement the one on the down tubes that has either fallen off or been removed.

This, I think. It is mentioned in the listing.... bargaining tool, maybe...??
 
But I don't think it's usual to drill the tube for a cable stop...usually they are surface brazed.:?

My fear is that the stay has corroded very thin inside, then the boss has snapped off. Personally that makes £80 look on the dear side.
