Any sh*t hot Tig welders on here...??

Neilll,

for a rider, it's toast. Cast parts have a much more granular structure and do not accept repairs such as this well. Ideally, the entire part would be heated with a torch, tig welded, then allowed to cool packed in sand for a few days, and even then, I'd not trust it for your "boys" safety.

Does Jeff at FF have one of these in his latest discovered Syncros stash?

cheers,

rody

Not in 30.4 he doesn't.....I asked him before all that stash went 'public'

Thanks for your advice though....Im thinking about getting a whole new 'head' machined up now and re-bonded into the shaft (  )

Hi Neill, might be able to help you a bit allthough I'm not sure.
I have a 31.4 Syncros seat post wich is slightly bend
The head is still OK though, maybe you can find someone to get it out and trim it or so....... just a wild guess but who knows, it's only 1tiny mm bigger
You can have it for postage costs (4,20 euro that is)
Just let me know when/if you have faith in this
cheers Roy

   slightly.....wouldn't like to see what happened to the person riding that badboy

Getting serious....yes, this is the kind of lines I am working on, get a 'donor' post from somewhere and get the head removed, machined and pressed & bonded back into my shaft.

Please hold onto it while I make some enquiries chap....

UPDATE 29/04/2008

After months of searching and on the brink of getting into some expensive engineering costs (involving cutting up and bastardising two perfectly good seat posts to make one good one) I would like to sincerely thank Sidekick416 (AKA Jeff) for taking the time to find and send me this >>>>>

NOS 30.4 Syncros seat post, still boxed and with all the original Syncros paperwork inside.

Jeff you're the man....thanks dude :D :D :D :D :D

Congrats, and i was just about to post offering to model up the part you needed for you to get CNC'd, saving you the cost of having the files produced for CnC, then your last post saved me the effort :)

My fix was gonna be more brutal than that....freeze a perfectly good 27.2 Pro Post, unbond the entire 'head', repeat on borked 30.4 shaft. Machine down and rebond 27.2 head in old 30.4 shaft (done by an engineer and not me  )

No need now :D :D
