Hi,
The Performance Settings section in the Rock Shox Magnesium Service Manual 1996 [1] refers to compression and rebound bleed holes as tuning variables.
W.r.t. the compression bleed holes, it can be read: The 1993 MAG valve body had two intake port valves with a compression bleed hole drilled 0.028" (0.71mm). 1994 and later valve bodies (PN 42226) had four intake port valves with a compression bleed hole drilled to 0.040" (1.02mm). I thus don't understand how the compression bleed holes could be tuning variables. Except by swapping between 1993 and 1994 MAG valve bodies. But even doing so, I don't get how Downhill Settings can have 2.0mm compression bleed holes. They're drilled to 1.02mm per the above specs. Does it mean that for Downhill Settings, you enlarge the drilled compression bleed holes to 2.0mm? It's also noteworthy that Cross Country Settings for Light Rider is 1.5mm.
W.r.t. the rebound bleed holes, I simply can't locate them. Default settings is none, hence the reason? But for Downhill Settings, it's stated 2 x 1.0mm for Light Rider and 1 x 1.0mm for Average Rider. How could this be achieved?
Thanks!
