Hello folks.

Anyone here ever used British Gas to fit a new boiler? What are they like price wise? Can you haggle with them? Are they the sort of company that will give an extortionate quote in the anticipation that you'll knock them down by 50% or are their prices competetive to start with. Any thoughts would be welcome.

Cheers,

Tad

Slightly more expensive than the rest (but still competitive) in my experience. Personally I regret not using them last time as the people I went with did a shockingly bad installation and promptly ceased trading, only to re-form some months later.

I think that you will get a quality installation AND the peace of mind of come-back if you are dissatisfied.

Yes, used them and would recommend highly. Not cheap but much better than a plumber / gas fitter that you have never heard of. We chose them as they could do an emergency boiler replacement straight away just before Xmas last year. Quality of work is excellent and so is the backup / aftercare.

Thanks for the info Hamster and Reki, do they just give one price or are they open to haggling?

Don't think haggling works with them. We did get 10 thermostatic radiator valves fitted, one of those magnetic system filter / cleaner thingies and a carbon monoxide alarm thrown in as part of the deal.
