Any metal workers on here?

Drapoon

Kona Fan
Well I'm working on a Drapoon (Tm) step down connector for my canti seat tube guide for a 94' Kona. Basically a cylindrical metal pipe which will insert into the back of the canti "dog collar" & then widen to allow insertion of an outer brake cable whilst running the inner through it too.

Any skilled metal workers on here who could assist?

cheers

Get a drawing or some exact dimensions to me and I'll make something up for you. Aluminium or steel?

Would have thought alu- would have been appropriate. Sounds as though he wants to clamp down to it there for the softer material would probably work better filling any gaps. (and it will cost you less on tool wear ;) )

i'd have thought the space was a bit small to do that on even the largest frames

what size are you shimming from and to? TBH you should be able to do it. even if you end up using 0.1mm shim material rolled and cut to fit.

I had a few shims made to adapt normal headset races to fit the non-tapered pace steerer tubes, essentially making my own race collars, they were pretty fine (cant recall exact wall thickness now)

Awesome!

it's basically just an adaptor to allow me to run v's on my Explosif. The existing guide clamp is to thin to drill out so I need this to sit in the back of the cable guide hole & allow an outer ferrule in the other end

I will draw a pic & post it up once I finish work ;-)

you can by them in bike shops, worked in one for 7 years and they sell loads of stuff like that, all shapes and sizes,or just drill out the stop on the bracket
