I quite like the colour, very 1970s Viking team colour. The saddle would give me a headache though LOL. Love the design of the chrome.

Front mech looks like 1052 Super Record :)

Hi Shaun,

Can you improve my knowledge - how do you identify the difference between the 1052 Super Record
http://www.velobase.com/ViewComponent.a ... &AbsPos=24
and
the Nuovo Record
http://www.velobase.com/ViewComponent.a ... &AbsPos=25
?

Couldn't find any pics of braze on versions!

Re:

The 1052 was common I think between the two groups but please feel free to tell me I'm mistaken. The newer 80's SR was black and silver

Hi Colnagolover

The identification was from the depths of my somewhat old memory but I was thinking about this one.

The pedals and clips are not C-Record; the gear levers are 1st. generation Campagnolo Syncro, very finicky but which functioned very well for me for 26 years, until I changed them for Syncro II levers Still a pain to get 100% right but less finicky that Syncro I). The front derailleur looks very much like a Nuovo Record.

Smashing bike - but wouldn't want to ride on those deep drops

Enjoy :)

Apparently there are 3 different pedal designs in the Campag Record catalogue for that year. They could be right

Lovely bike.

The original Rolls San Marco saddle is a bit of an acquired taste so maybe changing that to a tan suede model with some matching leather bar tape?
I think the saddle is a taste you should certainly acquire! Leather tape would be a crime.

Hi Colnagolover

Yep, NR and SR are the same aside from the SR has black arms and the adjustment screws are titanium.

Great marketing ploy from Campag as the cost of SR stuff made your nise bleed back in the 70's. The titanium stuff came from OMAS most of the time and was stamped With the Campag name.

Re:

As I was changing the tyre anyway, I decided to get a replacement Rolls San Marco in Suede. I've left the bat tape for now.
I plumped for 25mm Vittoria Open Corsa SC for a bit more comfort but tbh, they may need to be changed for 23s - they don't have more than a few mm clearance
