another question daft question- handlebar bottle cage?

Is there anything different about handle bar bottle cages compared to the down tube ones.
I want a bottle holder on my old bike but it has no bottle bosses on the down tube. I guess my only other option is on the handlebar?

Would like something from the right era but I'm not sure what I should be looking for.

Open to suggestions

Velo Orange does band on & handlebar bottle mounts.

BITD we used bottle cage mounts for the down tube as in that eBay link........

Yes they exist in modern form.Am racking my brains to think where I got mine but what you get is a bar clamp that you mount a standard bottle cage on. Try Spa cycles in Harrogate. Am told that they are used by the cyclo cross riders as they dont get in the way when you carry your bike.They may be part of the oxford cycle range.Inexpensive so perhaps Halfords or similar. Sorry . if this comes back to me I will re post but you are not wasting your time looking

Put bar mounted bottle cage into Amazon. There are the Oxford ones and a more modern looking Topeak one.Its a silver Oxford that I have and it looks o.k. on an older bike
