Righty, originaly posted by Woodsman here:http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=95747&highlight= it has now made its way all the way across to the other side of Horsham and now sits in my man cave.

The plan is to make it a winter singlespeed. Now the crank has been stripped off (with a hacksaw) it feels suprisingly light. It doesn't look too bad after a clean and wipe over with GT85. The question is what the hell is it? I'm going for a Gary Fisher something or other, any help is appreciated.

➡️ 1 1/4" steerer
➡️ 3 1/2" (88mm) bb shell with press in bearings
➡️ reinforced seat tube with distinctive stays and canti hanger
➡️ chain stays are rather distinctive too
➡️ down tube cable routing
➡️ serial number on the down tube rather than bb shell (S891136-0 or could be -8 )
➡️ 17" c to c seat tube, 21 1/2" TT c to c, 3 1/2" (88mm) head tube

Also, edumacate me on press fit BBs, how do I swap the bearings as these have some movement in and could do with replacing and where do I get bearings from?

looks like a GF to me to, 1 1/4 headset and press in BB- the rear stays are reminiscent of my old GF Prometheus so my guess would be 1990/91

I got replacement bearings from a chap called willie bain http://www.bicyclerepair.co.uk/

but they lasted a winter so one of those BB that self tighten would work better, yst rings a bell or the mavic one (see the dale thread below) would be even better as they are very good quality

looks quite cool 8)

was going ot say the same, i had, now LGF has my one, had pressed in bb bearings and 1 1/4" headset.

btw i had a load of sealed bearings if you want them (assuming they are the same)

to get them out, i just tapped the bb axle (after taking out the circlips), and they came out really easy, you can revirse for one of the bearings, but can used a bit of plastic pipe etc, to push in the last bearing

look forward to seeing that one turn up at my place soon

Do they do them in an 88mm shell width?
