AMP coil shock rebuild procedure

Anyone have a write up or pdf manual describing servicing/rebuild of an AMP rear oil dampened coil shock (from a B4)? Any special tools needed?

Thanks

Re:

Oh man, perfect. Thanks!

Previous owner re-assembled without installing the spring stop at the frame pivot end...ugh. Gotta take it fully apart just to put that back on

Re:

Question. Does the shock eyelet unscrew from the piston? If so, how? I just need to replace the spring collar, so avoiding disassembly of the oil containing body is possible it’d be A++.

Re:

It does unscrew. You need a tool to hold the shaft without damaging it, and it should just unscrew.

I have the tool needed and have serviced these shocks in the past. Before having the proper tools, I have used cut offs from rubber grips around shock shafts and used a bench vice to secure the shaft, you should be able to unscrew the eyelet without damaging anything. You don't need to tighten the vice too much as the rubber grips.

Re:

Cool
Got it off with vice grips and inner tube

Not how do I re tighten it enough with the spring on and in the way of the shaft??

Thanks!

Re:

blocks of hardwood.
Drill the size hole you need. Cut in half and the use if needed inner tube. Even better if you can get some blocks of aluminium and drill out, which is all the special tools are as per pic,

Re:

Don’t see how I could get any tool in there between the spring coils. Tried needle nose, but not enough grip (don’t have locking needle nose). I can get the eyelet to thread for about 2 threads, but then it just spins the shaft. Hmm

You need to compress the spring with a spring compressor, then slide the aluminium retainer off, the spring will then slide over the eye and off the shock You will then be able to grasp the shaft properly.
