Think I may have an American Classic square taper BB on my Specialized.
Hard to tell if its Ti, any clues/hints etc. Has one red ring, the other black/dark blue from memory.
How do you get the bugger out :?:
Cheers, Carl

I have two of these and they are holding up fine for me. The lockrings are loosened with a spanner. The old style cups are hex shaped, and the tools are hard to find.

After loosening the lockrings, I straddled the BB spindle with to shims/blocks and tightened an adjustable wrench over the blocks. Then use the wrench to break free the cups.

The Ti BB should weigh approx 150 grams. The drive side bearing does wear out faster than usual if you don't squirt a shot of grease regularly, so use a good antisieze when pressing new bearings in. The good thing is I bought bearings from American Classic direct, and paid only $7 each a couple of years ago. I think any bearing supplier should have those bearings available too.

Thanks fellas, the cups are indeed the older type with the hex fastening.
Maybe I'll just leave it in there as I am selling the frame :?
Cheers, Carl
