Picked this up (frame and forks) at a car boot on Sunday but can't find reference to it anywhere, it has carbon tubes with aly joints and internal cable routing for the rear brake with a stronglight headset. The downtube shifters lead me down the retro route. Anyone have any info???

I don't, but:

1) It's fairly modern, obviously. The bosses on the down tube would have been used to mount cable stops for STI or Ergo levers, as on many modern frames. You could use downtube levers, of course. I'd guess the threaded headset means probably late nineties:newer would be threadless.

2) I don't like the look of that paint crack at the head lug - downtube junction. Is there movement at the joint?

Just rushed out to have a look at the crack???
It only runs round one side and there is no movement that I can make out.
Im off to see a guy that has a whole load of gear in his garage- like me then
He says he may have some shifters and mechs that will suit, but I'm expecting more than just that.
Will post if thereis any goodness to share!!

If that is a crack - bin it. Unless you know someone who can fix cracks in carbon frames.

I had one of these about 8yrs ago. It rode quite nicely - comfortable and fast. I didn't get the original fork and ended up with an Easton EC30 which was like rubber. The Ambrosio one should be fine though!

Naa, if this frame isn't cracked then its a cracker if you know what I mean. I put a few thousand comfy miles on it. They were still going like hot cakes on eBay until recently - £400 if I remember right. Ambrosio stuff is excellent.

It will look retro if you use the right stuff. Its quite 'gappy' at the forks and with a set of Ambrosio rims and Campagnolo Chorus stuff or something will see you well for years to come.

Thats if its not cracked.

Well you are living in the right place ot get it fixed. There are plenty of carbon fibre specialists in Hampshire for the marine trade, so I would try a racing dinghy repairer / boatbuilder.
