Ambrosio CC22 owner here. In the best Italian tradition, the 22 stands for a 24mm width ... (you couldn't make that sort of stuff up)
Mine have smooth sides. actually the sides were coated dark grey but that has worn off almost completely now.
32 holes in my Durex, so hopefully my Scott will have plenty of little baby bikes.
Truth be told, I did have some problems with mine. Several flats in a short time, with the holes all on the inside of the inner tyre.
Turns out they drilled lightening holes on the bead seats, and those holes did have burrs on them.
A bit of filing and some strategically placed duct tape solved it. That probably outweighs the weight saved with the drilling, but I'd rather ride a 23lbs bike than carry a 22lbs one.
Good light rims, and strong too. However they do seem a little thin on the sidewall. I have my doubts regarding longevity, but we'll see what happens.
