Aluminium frame polishing question

I wouldn't spray a clear coat on your polished frame. The risk of oxidation under your lacquer or your frame turning a bit "yellow" looking is not worth taking imho. I would recommend the same as FairfaxPat.
I never use aluminium specific polish, but that's because I still have a lot of "normal" metal polish. I don't even know if there is alu specific.

My usage

I use Autosol a lot and the tubes I have just say 'metal polish'

I have countless shiny bits that are all good

I guess the lacquer versus wax thing is personal taste

I'm doing a build at the moment and the finish will be raw alu

But I think in the case of this original question he must use lacquer to form a permanent barrier 'cos those lugs look super corroded

I'm suspecting a high magnesium alloy

I use Acrylic or preferably Nitrocellulose, acrylic won't yellow, but nitro is harder/finishes better, will yellow with age though but not on application (it's the nitro itself that yellows, vintage guitar love it)

An oxide will not form under you lacquer, the lacquer is the barrier to oxidation

Don't use polyester, never really seems to harden!

Carge: Check this out

It's my build; I deanodised and polished up a set of 20 odd year old Rigida Turbo 90s
