Alu polishing

Re:

what about machine polishing? using a soft head? or a Dremel or similar for the smaller areas?

The GT frame will need nothing more thhan autosol. My approach would be to fully clean down with GT85 to remove grease, grime and grit. You'll be suprised how well that alone will bring it up. Then, start to apply Autosol. If nervous about being too abrasive with the frame then apply GT85 again which will act as a barrier to what is an abbrasive paste.
It will look a million dollars after about 2 weeks of blood sweat and tears!!

+1 for Autosol, amazing stuff, most of the time I apply it with elbow grease but for tricky to reach bits I use a dremel but remember to wear googles as it's a good way to pebble dash your face.

Autosol all the way...even with a soft cloth and some elbow work will reap great results.

Autosol? Cant see why toothpaste (not the gel type) wont do the job just as well and leave the bike smelling minty. Tesco value will cost much less too.

Re:

How about polish the frame then get it clear powder coated before you then apply the decals. Obviously you won't be able to jet wash your bike (you'll remove all the stickers) but it worked very well for me on a polished steel framed Parkpre.

DIY lacquer does look cr4p very quickly as it goes opaque & flakes, I should know because I tried that method before stripping again and going the clear powder coat route.

Good luck.

A-ha.
I made this within 10 minutes.
There is a before picture too. And with the pen it shows, how mirroring is the surface.

Autosol ROCKS. I will look like Popeye, if I finish. :D
