Altimus outdoors

Old School Grand Master
Have just sold my dad a coat that they said was made of something "just like" Goretex. It was marked down from £150, and described as an incrediuble bargain at £100.

Now, he's not very knowledgeable about this sort of thing, so he paid his money, and took it home. He went out in it a couple of times and said it was rubbish.

I had a look at it yesterday. It's lined with PVC, so completely non-breathable. Looking at the manufacturer's website, their RRP for the exact same coat is £45.

This is meant to be reputable outdoors shop, and to be honest a trick like that is a real surprise. But what should I do? It was a couple of months ago, and we don't have the receipt.

Is there anything we can say to them?

without a receipt your done for really. You could try saying its faulty, but by leaving the store you have accepted the price.

the only other trick is to go straight to the highest person you can find, as they wont like dealing with joe public, they'll probably just refund you.

Without hearing the full story...trading standard s might take a dim view...worth a mention if the retailer in question takes a cavalier attitude.

do they still have the same coat for sale at that price in the shop? You could always point it out...
