Sky are rinsing us for TV etc so want to change.

Who has had what experience with whom?

Looking at John Lewis broadband and BT's Plusnet so far.

Talk Talk have been a nightmare for us in the past so that is a no-no.

'Superfast' fibre broadband has finally come to our village so we want to dump Sky TV and go back to Freesat/ Freeview with something like Netflix and so on for streaming films as and when - this would cut our monthly bill by around a third to half compared to what we pay for now.

weve just binned bt in favour of sky for phone and interweb, halfed the price over bt and service is much better

Re:

In a household of 6 all of what with internet access i am with VM couldnt be with anyone else it would just be to slow with 3 consoles that can have any 2 online at any one time and 6 tablets of one kind or another not including my own stuff i may be doing.

My aunt used to be on Plusnet it was awful capped limit and slow, she is now with EE and seems a decent service its not the fastest about but her connection seems stable for her to use with Netflix and all the mundane stuff she will do with it.

If you can get Virgin out of all other options its the one i would say go get but if not best just shopping around

check http://www.samknows.com/exchange_search will allow you to see the LLU info on your local exchange and check the LLU status thus allowing a better informed choice of who will offer the better connection to your location.

A mate of mine has a linux based HD satellite receiver and receives every channel including ppv for £10 per month payable to some chap who's hacked the codes. Its all very illegal and a bit complicated for a pleb like me to set up (matey is a software engineer) plus the tv guide is very basic, but then he's not getting raped to the tune of £70 pm by Mr Murdoch like I am.

Another mate has a freeview box and also runs XBMC on his computer hooked up to the TV. This gets you the latest movies and just about every TV channel for free but sometimes the quality is poor.

John Lewis broad band and phone unlimited everything except calls to mobile - sub £30 / month inc line rental and great customer service.
