This was my first proper MTB I bought while at school.
I sold it when I was 18, but recently found out where it was and bought it back.
We've been through a lot together and used to regulary go out on 8 hours rides, I even saw my first naked woman (in the middle of the trail with her boyfriend) while riding this bike.

So in honour of the good old days I've built this bike using the best components that's I had laying around, which is exactly how it was built 16 years ago!

So don't expect a period build with Tourney TY20.

This is how I found her:

I don't think I did much to the frame. I just wanted to build it so i could see if it was worth keeping as a rider or just hanging the frame on the wall.

I used Kurust on the chainstay, which when cured happen to be a not too bad colour match!
I seem to have a camera that makes everying look new and shiny. it's not very good condition in real life!

whats it ride like ?

never had any love for these after the elevateds
but i do have an asr ,think steves got one too (in the same pink colour)

I'll never admit to owning a pink one....
It's faded red, I tells ya...

I've only really ridden it down my driveway so far. The riding position is probably the best out of any bike for me. Although I've messed up the head angle with the longer forks (originally rigid).

The ASR was a year or two after this wasn't it, the final year they were around? Was it Moore large that took over the name?
Is yours the one with the bent seatstays?

not sure what year it is ,not done any checking tbh ,just bought it because it was an astars ,however i think it is a 95/6 the frame is an
areto (i think) frame similar to various other things (claud butlers , B E boss etc ) the kinked seatstay ones were later and i think steel
maybe the model after yours ,seem to be even rarer

and as steve said not pink , maybe salmon sunrise or summat
