Hi, ex-Alpinestars employee here. The bar and stem that you have should be destroyed as their had been a recall of that particular model of stem/bar in 1992. They were to be replaced with chromoly steel stems and a thicker, correctly heat-treated bar as both were prone to failure straight out of the box due to incorrect material choice/manufacturer material substitution (Easton was to be used, Taiwanese low-end swapped without notification. Failure at the weld as tension was placed on the clamp bolt... also Onza and Club Roost were affected as well).
