Alpinestars Almega DX 1991 vs 1992 edition

Hello guys. Anybody here can tell the differences in the frame and fork on the Alpinestars Almega DX 1991 vs 1992 editions please?

Think the main difference was the head tube brace on the 92's as without one they all cracked there. Looking at the pictures the rear drop outs are different too? Have you seen @sinnett177 Alpinestars thread? It's a comprehensive history of the brand.

thank you, did not ever notice the different dropouts. Do you have any knowledge of the models produced in late 1991 started featuring the head tube brace too?

As @brocklanders023 mentioned the headtube gusset and rear dropouts. Also the rear seat stays are different. The 92 stays are really ugly compared to a 91 in my opinion when you look at the bike from behind. As for the gusset on the 91 I dont proclaim to be an expert but I have seen two versions. There is the one my bike has and a second version which looks the same ,or similar, to the 92. I guess it was a rolling modification after the 1st lot with no gusset started getting returned. For reference the one in the link below is mine . I really should get around to finishing it and swapping the stem out for a purple Zooka.

Thought I would start a build thread for this one. Here's a 1991 Al-Mega DX I got a while back. I had a 92 Al-Mega XT for a while but for some reason wasn't overly excited by that and sold it. However I think the colours and graphics of this 91 are far nicer and I like this one so time to get building.

Good and bad news with the frame. As we know these are prone to crack. The good news is this doesn't appear to have any, the only fault I can find is one rivnut is loose. The bad news is that kind of makes me not want to ride it when done as I don't want my fat ass breaking it so we shall...
