Alpinestars Al Mega non estay circa 1993 frame.

Retro Newbie
I've got an Alpinestars AlMega frame for sale, circa 1993.

It's one of the first non estay frames, Easton Varilite 18".
Originally had full XTR, but has been through several incarnations since, currently stripped and polished with black stays, with Marzocchi Bombers (80mm coil I think), race face bar and stem and some cheap v brakes on the back.
I have a disc front wheel if needed, but no rim brake rear.
Bombers have disc mounts or can run canti's.

I've owned the frame (3 times !) since it was about a year old. really needs a respray or repolish

Not an all original classic, but could be built up into something worthwhile.

Looking for £60 for frame and forks, bar, stem

Pm me if you want some photos

With the stays being a nopn-standard colour, check for repairs. I had one of these frames and the chainstays cracked behind the bottom bracket and needed welding. It might be something the current owner isnt even aware of, as its been in and out of his ownership.

Just for info, I sprayed the stays as I was fed up polishing !

Get some pics tonight hopefully

Thanks for the interest

Hi just had a look at the frame - it certainly looks a good deal for someone but the one I am holding out for is the 1990 - early flouro bike. Thankyou for the photos - I am sure someone else would snap this rare frame up on here. Many Thanks

No problem Marcus.

Thinking back, it was originally a silver grey paint job, and the guy I sold it too stripped and polished it and discovered the cable guides were anodised purple under the paint !

I bought it off someone who worked for the importer at the time, Lifecycle in Chepstow.
I also had a set a Lawill Leader forks on the front of my Cannondale M hardtail around then, pity I didn't keep those.

I may also be able to get hold of a more basic Alpinestars bike from around the same era, cromo non estay frame, but very little used and all original. It belongs to my father, I'll check if he wants to sell it, from memory it's bright purple.
