All it takes is one ride

Dirt Disciple
Hey all,

Stumbled across the forum about a week ago and have been hooked ever since!

I used to be really into mountain biking in the early 90's and had an orange clockwork from 92/93 which I loved to bits. I foolishly sold the clockwork and replaced it with a 95 diamond back ascent ex.

At some point I forgot all about mountain biking (discovering drugs, girls and cars) and hadn't been out for about 15 years, until last week.

Me and a few friends went out and fell back in love with mountain biking after the first ride.

My mate went out straight away and bought a 2010 GT, while I started dreaming of building my own bike.

I have now open pandoras box and bought a 97 Saracen Kili frame and am planning my first ever build............

oops, wrong thread, was meant to be in the introduction sticky

Welcome to Retrobike.

Well, I hope you can survive on little sleep ( cos` you`ll be spending long nights in the "man cave" building, taking apart and rebuilding bikes )

And you`ll also need plenty of spare cash ( to buy all the lovely things you`ll see and want on here )

ENJOY

Cheers for the warm welcome :D

I am an insomniac so I'm used to little sleep!. Regarding cash to buy bits, I was thinking I would be able to put together a bike on the cheap, somehow I don't think it's going to turn out that way......

I would love another clockwork. There was a beautiful black frame on ebay, but it was disk brake only

Really looking forward to building the kili, I've seen a few beauty's on here. Mine is going to have a rasta theme, red frame with green and gold shiny bits 8)

That was the modern one and was being sold by a retrobiker. Early '90's Clockwork frames go for about £50 so shouldn't break the bank. 8)

i fell into the same trap you did about 2 months ago.

18 months prior, i picked up and built an orange gringo - in the last few weeks I have acquired and restored a mk1 raleigh burner, a bianchi grizzly that is now 90% ready & a marin muirwoods that is being made into a single speed!!!

my main problem is finding enough time to actually get out on the damn things between working split shifts and building the sods!!!
