.... I was in Aldi today, for the first time in my entire life and I stumbled across a pretty fantastic looking compressor for £99, shame it wouldn't fit in my trolley...

As I strolled further down the aisle I found myself almost re-enacting the Pulp Fiction scene where Butch is finding more suitable tools for carrying out the job on the blokes that have strapped a pool-ball in his and Marcellus' gobs... as I stumble across the piece-de-resistance...

.... a bloody shot-blast gun... with shot/beads as well... fan-bloody-tastic.

Only problem I can see is that shot blasting needs to be carried out in a very 'controlled' environment, but I'm sure none of that bollocks matters in the domestic world...

Anywhoo, if anyone's interested in stripping their own frames, you could probably do a lot worse,

'DIY shot blasting' has a similar ring to it as 'self assembly gas oven'

its probably quite safe in reality if you take a couple of precautions but i can't help but think it would get messy, expensive & addictive!

there's nothing to contain the 'shot' so it's about as safe as an indoor bonfire, imho.

You can blast against a ply sheet angled down and over a tray or canvass sheet to collect the shot, then filter the old paint out.

The compressor and gun aren't really that powerfull anyway and might struggle with some of the enamels used on bikes.

The tricky bit is to not blast your face with rebound.

It's the same compressor sold as a sealy elswhere and is ok for light duties but won't power most tools and is useless for painting.
