Well, after all the nonsense of the agency work drying up, I remembered why I married my wife. She said to me in one long but concise sentence.......'' What do you really want to do ?.....well just go ahead and do it, we'll manage"

So I could have bought lots of shiny on here and said '' you did say do....but I didn't.

What I did is, sign up to OU, commit to 13 free related courses in the field of drugs/alcohol and mental health, increased my volunteering to at least 2 days a week (related) and start a Yoga class ( teaching ) one day a week and agreed to do all the housework and washing up while my wife supports us !!! As we have only just found out she's pregnant too, I'd say fair play to her

we were in the same boat 3 years ago when my misses was made redundant just after our 2nd child was born. i luckily had a full time job and she was half way through training to be a driving instructor. since then i lost my full time job and have trained to become a cycle instructor. technically we earn less now than before but its amazing how much it costs to have a full time job.


best thing that could of happened, much happier now and actually have more disposable income.

How often do you instruct ? It's a very needed job I think as kids these days are even more distracted than years ago, mobiles, i-pods etc, makes me cringe when i see kid scoot across a road with out looking :x I did it once as a kid and only missed getting killed, never forgot it, but i was lucky.

wouldnt disagree, but it goes further than that. Kids these days are mollicoddled and the need to be atttentive isnt drilled into them. As kids, we ran the streets and learned to look and to be aware. Every now and then, some unlucky joe would come to school with a pot on his leg and it was a wake up call to the rest of us. Nowadays, kids spend their time in the back of a car and get from a to b without even recognising that might have been potential danger. When they are then exposed to it, they arent even aware.

Fair Play Mate!!!! And what a Wifey....Things always have a way of working out & it amazes me how when you get knocked back or your money drops how you adjust to living to your new means...
Sure it will all work out just fine & for the better...

i teach cycling too at primary schools and have to agree that although having long holidays are fun its the lack of income that sucks..i stagger the time sheets with delayed travelling expenses claims to compen sate...this month is a bit hard though...no buying bike bits for a month is difficult

i'll be up your way at croword junior school some time in april, bloody long journey but at least the mileage claim is good
