Seem to remember in the distant past that an aftermarket mount was made for M900 Shifters
This mount meant you could detach the shifters from the brake levers and use different brakes.

Anyone know if i'm right or is it just senility creeping in :( even better if someone knew where I could get some from.

Thanks in anticipation

magura, shimano stx, grafton, precision & probably more..

As Scant says, but value for money would say go with the STX pods he mentioned. Remove the STX shifters and bolt on your XTRs. Most of the others are very nice, but cost a fortune and aren't nearly as robust (except for the maguras which are very solid but look very, er, teutonic and industrial - sorry german retrobikers  )

I've got some plastic magura ones (that'll probably be for sale shortly, along with everything else on the bike!) - maybe they made 2 types?

Thanks and at least I remembered right, plenty of food for thought there then.
I have some STX-RC 8 Sp shifters on an old Rockhopper, wonder if they would do?
Like the sound of the others, but not too keen on those Ebay ones, bit too loud (and expensive)
Cheers

Thanks all and very grateful for the tip about the redrilling. Just been offered a pair of STX shifters, so will give it a go.
Cheers

Out of curiosity, what brakes are you using to require not using the XTR brake levers (the better part of the two and the best retro canti levers imo ) The pods are quite naff really and internally not much different than the others.
