Hi all I picked up a frame off the bay the other day and its made from what I believe shimano/tange aero tubing it has shimano EF dropouts, tange 2c stamped on the steerer and the frame No is M2D11157. Does anyone recognise this format of number. The frame has been poorly painted but it still has traces of the original colour on the steerer which happens to be similar to the Bianchi Celestrial green, any help greatly appreciated

Looks like some of the frames that people were playing with in the very early 80's by pressing the middles of round tubes to flatten them :) I would have expected the downtube shifters to have been on top of the frame.

Lots of people built 'aero' frames in the 80's. I had one (a lo-pro) built by Steve Elsworth with Ishiwata 017 (I think) which was incredibly light. Didn't make me any faster though!

Reynolds, Tange, Columbus etc. all made flattened tubing, some of which was very 'thin' in profile. Someone told me that the main benefit experienced with this form of tubing was found when the bike was on a roof rack at 70 mph.
