Advice on Stripping anodising from Brakes

I have a set of hope M4 brakes , black and gold version
they look scruffy due to marks on the callipers and lever body's

So was wondering how you can remove all the black ano so i can polish them up.

Advice would be great as i tries just sanding it and it is hard as nails.

Bleach may work. I have done this on some levers before. But the finish was a matt kind of fiinish which was quite tough. Had to use one of thiose dish scrubbing pads and lots of autosol but very nice finish.

There is another one, caustic soda i think?

cheers buddy , yeah i have heard of caustic soda but i imagine it would be a
paint to flush out of the brake.
Also somebody just told me oven cleaner?

I wouldn't put any solvents anywhere near them unless they are fully stripped.
You could get them, i think the term is, media blasted?
Like shot blasting but more gentle

like walnut shell and what not?

Don't know anywere that does that , i wonder if hope offer a re-anodising service

Yeah oven cleaner has caustic soda in it i think.

Check yellow pages - you may be able to find someone who isnt hope to re anodize them.

I would have thought there would be loads of shotblasters in liverpool what with all the boats
Most powder coaters also offer a shotblasting service

Yeah i have had stuff shot blasted but once blasted they can be polished as it leaves a finish similar to sandpaper.

But media blasters i think there is one in Manchester..

May be easier seeing if hope still stock the lever body.

i wouldnt shotblast a caliper, the resulting grit,coating&alloy dust will forever cause problems. anodising is a very hard surface finish as youve found, and any abrasive removal method will seriously eat into the alloy itself when you break through.
if this is just an exercise is tarting up a scratched finish, just aim to remove the dye, not the surface coating. it can be done with chemicals or heat, or both, search youtube, theres hundreds of ideas on there, some redneck, some spot on.
