advice on items going missing...

Why should you have to insure goods to be sent by Royal Mail, isn't the Queen's head assurance enough the mailed item will reach it's destination ?

Or is it pushing customers to insure stuff to be sent is absolving themselves of the lousy and dishonest service they can provide from time to time, when surely they should be sorting their business out, not pushing customers away by forcing them to buy insurance.

im sending off the claim form i got from the post office later today. i'll claim for £45 (seems like a good idea) though i wont be re embersing the other £15 or £60 if i lose the claim.... which is just the way it is im afraid :(

Whilst I'm sure you feel justified in your position, and I realise this deal took place in another forum. And I also realise the criteria by which the "Gold Trader" status / banner is applied on this forum.

All the same, I struggle to reconcile your stated approach, in this thread, and a status of "Gold Trader". That's just my opinion, that's not an attack, or a heckle from the sidelines.

In fairness, you've started a thread on this, not somebody else, so people are - and should be - quite free to chip in their take on it all - if you didn't want that, surely you wouldn't have started a thread on the subject.

Not sure im reading this correctly and i apologise if im wrong
Does this mean that you took the buyers money, sent the item,it didnt arrive and because you cant claim the full amount back then the buyer is the one who loses out should the claim not be accepted. :?
And that if the claim is allowed then the buyer still loses out by £15 :?

Silverclaws-
The po is a massive business and things can go astray, even small firms have this problem it is the nature of things.sure in a perfect world it would not happen but this is people were talking about and people make mistakes.I cannot blame the post office for that.
I admit that there basic policy pays low but there is insurance and thats why they ask you at the PO counter how much the contents are worth.

It is logical, knowing that people are not infallible to insure the cost of the item should it go astray :?

That could put potential buyers off in the future for 2 reasons, 1 you send by the cheapest way possible and 2 it seems to be tough titties if it goes missing. Aslong as you have your money your happy. Thats just how I read it.

Well no if that was the case then I wouldn't have made a claim on this guys behalf, but whether I want to personally re emberse his money is my discretion

Surely this is your claim and not done on anyones behalf?.
As I read it the seller should take the loss, in full, it's that simple.

Perhaps, solely, in your head.

As I said, accepting that the deal wasn't done, here, this thread is, and we can't un-hear it. And I can't reconcile it, with the label of "Gold Trader".
