Advice needed on chipped frame paint

This may have been asked a thousand times but I've never done this before.
My Trek 930 has a serious scrape on the top tube which has exposed the bare Cro Mo under, which has now rusted.
Overall it's about the size of a 5 pence piece.
I want to try and remove this and try and blend in some new paint.
Is there any tips the Retrobikepedia Fountain of Knowledge can give me.
Thanks

Nail polish. Take the frame down to you local supermarket and match the colour. Has been done many times before so don't feel embarassed about doing it. Talking to yourself and muttering nonsense whilst doing it will keep the onlookers away.

I can't work out if this is a joke or not
Taking a pair of forks into Boots is going to look odd especially with all those tarts dolled up on the make up stand ?
I might get a colour chart and match that to the frame instead of taking the bike in

No joke at my end

I needed a metallic purple. Only option was to take in the forks - too many shades otherwise

Sure you get a few funny looks but who cares
