First of all apologies for the Fall/Mark E Smith reference.
I bought this in August on eBay from a retrobike member and I know it’s done the rounds on here over the last few years with people suggesting it could be a Kona Explosif but the only thing I’m sure of with it is that it’s not a Kona.
It seems to be made of either Columbus /tange prestige mixed tubing or some sort of tange oversized tubing as the top and down tubes are flattened at opposite ends. The Seat tube is tange prestige with the bulge at the bottom bracket.
It’s fillet brazed on the top tube and seat stays and has a roller for the front derailleur and from what I can see, the paint (although not to everyone's taste) seems original. I did weigh the frame and it was around 4.1lbs.
The braze ons and cable guides seem similar to ones used by Roberts, Lloyd and Yates (although they could be generic) and I think one of them fitted p2 forks and a mavic headset as options. There’s no seat binder and no collar on the seat tube which could rule them out.

Ive attached a few images of the tubes and the finished bike which I’ve built mainly with spares and leftover parts from other builds.

Anyone any ideas on what it is or could be?

Re:

Took it out for a spin around the local lanes today and was pleasantly surprised despite the dreadful weather. It goes uphill nicely and seems pretty stable in the was down. I ended up doing 24 miles as I enjoyed it so much!

Glad to see some others on here with great musical taste too.
