A Grand Day Out (skiving off work content)

Dr S

Old School Grand Master
Had a great old skool day out yesterday with Sithlord. Lots of getting lost, lots of carrying up hills, big views, over the bars crashes, bike sized puddles and not a trail centre in sight! This is how it used to be, tooling about in the woods and over the moors, round field edges and up and down all over the place. Even the weather held out. I don't think I have seen as much mud in years- up to the axles more times than I care to remember but loved every minute of it. Hell, we even got shot at!
Makes a nice change from riding by numbers trail centres- why not phone in sick in the morning and get out there you guys?

Couple of pics from my phone camera.

Up at the top and almost in the clouds- time for a fag then!

Such a world away from Olde London Towne

You'll have to move then matey!

This little lot is just 20 mins ride from my back door. I could never move back to a city now. I left the bike outside my front door last night when I got back too. You can't do that in the town

When I fancy some off roading I usually travel all the way up to my sister's place in the North Pennines, mind you she lives slap bang next to Hamsterley Forest so I never complain when I'm up there

Nice 8)
I love that place. With my shifts, i can get up there through the week, having the place to myself except for the odd jet
Good to see you had fun.

The hills are alive, and so are we.

Getting your kit ready, being well prepped, or making do. Lucozade tablets, sharing a power bar (or three). Kind of worrying about your bike at first, then having a good run and saying fu*k it. Everyone stopping, (without anyone saying stop) to soak it all in (the view, a crash, a hard bit, adjustments, etc). The weather, good or bad, becomes great.

Having a bath and a meal. Not feeling it so much the next day but maybe the day after. Only the people you were with, or who know, understanding what you're talking about. and so on.....

Work is important (a necessity), but living is essential.
