A free Puch Maxima

I was given this Puch Maxima by my friend's Mum, who had it sat in her garage ever since her husband left her at least fifteen years ago. I don't think it's anything massively special but it was made in Austria according to stickers on it. I like the looks and it's in good condition given the length of time it was left unused. It's a 10-speed with Shimano Positron gearing and shifters which still work pretty well.

My Dad and I cleaned it up and got everything working again. We changed the original 27" wheels and knackered tyres for a spare pair of 700c wheels since the brakes had plenty of adjustment and put new tyres and brake blocks on. It rides well now and I'm really pleased with it. I've been after a road bike for a while now and this has worked out really well.

Very nice, although I would higher the seatpost if you don't want cramped legs. I had the same problem with my legs on my Viking until I heightened the seatpost. Also if you want more power transfer then get some MKS Pedals (retro style) about £20 and put some clips and straps on it, you'll love the speed you can gain from them.

If the bike is too big for you and you can't higher the seatpost without it being to high, then I'd sell the bike and buy a bike which is the right size.

Other than that, it's all good.

Thanks for the advice on the saddle - I have moved it up and it does feel better now. I've only ever ridden mountain bikes before so this is proving a bit of a culture shock but in a good way!
