A flam lime 1974 Mercian Olympic(finished )

This arrived last week as a replacement for the 1960 Mercian that is winging it's way back to its previous owner, previous as in he sold it in 1971!
It's an Olympic with original paint and after a quick wax a lovely patina which I can certainly live with. I've been building it up slowly with parts that I've had circulating for a while and a few new acquisitions. More later, here's the frame.

So here's the initial build. Lots of little jobs done, rear axle swapped brakes serviced etc.
It's a nuovo record drivetrain, Rd is pat 74, wheels are record on rigida, brakes are weinmann 610s with dia compe qr levers. Campag seatpost and sakae bar and stem.

Very nice . What's the saddle, looks suede as it would have been BITD....

I like that... I’m working on a couple of Mercian projects at the moment, though rather later than this. The colour is a real 70’s classic. Subbed for the finished product.

Looking really lovely. It is a great colour and a worthy replacement for the other Mercian.

Nearly done. Waiting for some guards to be delivered then I'll test ride and tape the bars if I'm happy.

Tis done. Had to swap chainset as inner ring is well worn on the campag, if I source one it can go back on, packed the bag with tools and took it for a test ride.
