A Fixie for Xmas

A lot of bullhorns will be narrow if you're using them off-road.

For components, I would buy the very cheapest I could get. No offence, but the frame simply doesn't justify the expense of buying nice bits. Have you got the original crank and bottom bracket? The chainrings won't be ramped, they could work OK for a fixed gear.

It's more of a commuter bike if I'm honest so that and the extra hand position make me think of bullhorns.

Original crank is riveted together,I was tempted to use a dremel and chop off the middle and small chain ring, not sure if that works or how many teeth are on the big one, running a 17 in the rear

Original bottom bracket still in place, regreased it not too long ago.

No plan to spend mega bucks here just sick of looking at the bike half built

Well the 21.1 fit the bike however the steel where the bottom part is (bit that sits inside forks) is of crap quality and will not purchase the forks, the Allen key just spins.

Is the offer of a stem still there??

Cheers

So after much swearing, hammering, crowbar and dremel I converted my old three piece crank into a single.

Crank arm seems to be rubbing on the chain stay, just hoping it's because of the diy chainstay protector and I haven't dunted it.

Re:

That ring looks badly out of line, remove they thick rubber chainstay protection and spin that cranks.

Single ring cranks are quite cheap on the bay.

I suspect that drilling out the rivets would have been better. Bearing in mind the mangling of the inners  , I can't believe the outer is still true...

Re:

This is the original pic, think all that has happened is I have made it sit closer to the frame by taking the other two rings off,can you buy spacers to push it back out a bit?
