A Brilliant impostor (绝妙的冒牌货)

He'd have to be someone known, as most tracks won't allow it.

I've never liked them I have to admit, but each to their own. Right up there with eyelashes on a micra, but again, not harming anyone.

It was a good many years ago now.

Have you ever been to the beach race at Le Touquet? That is the epicenter of motorbike fancy dress and absolute lunacy. I knew a guy who was doing alot of the beach races so we went over to spectate as his engine was goosed.

HOLY SHIT!!

The mad urban scramble through the town with all the non-pros trying to get down to the beach, for a good start place, and to see 1200 solos lined up for the off and start was amazing. I think it was the first year of no sidecars and quads, or something, like that. The buzz waiting for the first lot to come back, via the dunes, was electric and then the chaos of everyone else trying to even complete 1 lap! What fun!

Another completely mad bike event i went to was the Bol D'or 24hrs. The campsite action was as relentless as the racing. There was an outdoor kart track at Paul Ricard that was bordered by a campsite. This campsite was like something out of Mad Max ,with biker gangs, and they were armed with air rifles so each time we went past the campsite you would here pellets pinging of your helmet and the kart.

It is probably all sanitised now and, in some cases, for the better. The campsite drag racing at Le Mans, in the late 80's, and the 'Bull Ring' at Bathurst , which was still going in the early 90's, are things that have stopped which really is for the best.

off topic. but meh.

the off grid crazy was the thunder sprint for me. held in a little town in the cheshire plains, on a car park. It was part of the sprint circuit, but you'd get a few real racer turn up for the fun of it (and for publicity). They'd do the sanitised version and we'd do the getting wrecked the night before in the pits version. James May used to do it. :)

it moved over to angelsey in the end, a real circuit wasn't as much fun.

LOL, people are certainly free to appear in public looking like clowns, in the interest of being 'inclusive', of course. But that doesn't mean I'm not going to guffaw heartily at you for doing so.
