98+ BoTM 98+ Bike of The Month May 2025 - Now taking entries

Can't figure out how to give it a title ( technology is not my strong point ) but here is my 97 Sintesi Bazooka or it could be a 98. I bought the frame as an old beat up thing and resprayed it myself. I went for silver Hope headset, big un hubs, M4 brakes, rear skewer and seat clamp. XTR M952 cranks, BB, shifter and rear derailleur. Azonic bars, stem and grips. MK1 DMR V12 pedals and Geax 2.4 tyres with an SDG tiger print saddle. I hope you all enjoy the pics.

Lovely bike, I'd do a thread for it if you haven't already. You're only allowed 2 pics in BOTM. 👍 😁

PhillB's 2006 Independent Fabrication Steel Deluxe - I found this frame on eBay a few months back and the slowly built it up. My first build with disc brakes (believe it or not!!) It's by far the newest retro bike in my collection by almost a decade.

It's lovely to ride - although I'll not be giving up on the early 90's steel just yet :)

Yeah. Come on people.

Place and show what you have - as long as it is not a crime against humanity. That would disgust. Obviously. Have some standards.

Get your beauties photographed and presented with a little write up.

@Olibabe 1998 Cannondale Raven 4000 SL

My first very good MTb was a Cannondale 2000SL bought in 1998. A great bike that I’ve raced for 5 years. I remember so many heads turning, because this bike was so unique and in ahead of it’s time !
My 2000Sl was nice but I’ve always dreamed of the 4000 SL and it’s fantastic configuration with the Coda Magic crankset, Avid Ultimate brakes, Mavic CrossMax. Finally, few years ago, the dream came true, and I’m now the lucky owner of this nice (almost) catalog spec Raven 1 in it’s finest build.
I hope you’ll like it !

Would love to see pedals in a bike entered to a competition. A stunning bike.

I'm glad this frame is still serving you well. Sunny Spain looks like a very agreeable place for a bike to live compared with grey and rainy Scotland 😂
