97 mount vision re-birth

You have your trail centre bikes and your normal trail countryside bikes.

Most countryside trails can be ridden on a cyclocross bike without the need for huge suspension travel. The image trail centres seem to portray (along with some magazines) is engine-less motocross style of big air, big jumps and big gaps. Personally I'm not the adrenaline junky that can do that, I prefer the challenge of big hills and getting from one place to another. I laugh at the bikes I see around Thetford - its one of the flattest places to ride yet now full of S-Works and Audis.

I think what I am trying to get across is dont get caught up in the hype and just enjoy the ride - not the monetized marketing driven bullshit that greets on opening page one of MBR...

Re:

That's always been my way of thinking. I enjoy the climbs as much as the downs and to be truthfull I'm 45 next month and going down fast is something I'm trying to avoid. I broke my neck on a bike in my 20's but I still can't help myself in letting the bike go on the downs. I was pleasantly surprised to see the latest xc bikes still only running 100mm f and r. That puts the old Mv there or there abouts. It so easy to get tempted by all the glitz though.
