95 'dale Headshok DD damper spins and spins, is that right?

I have just acquired a 1995 F1000. The Headshok (DD) wasn't pumped up and sounded squishy.

Pumped it up and all good, but the damper knob just spins and spins. It does firm the suspension up but there doesnt seem to be a start or finish. Is this how they are?

I took the knob off to have nose and the bolt is screwed to the shaft and the shaft with the slotted top just spins.

Does it need sorting out or is it normal?

Sussed it (pun intended).

Seems that part number 100957 is missing. The part with the 4-click system. The forks work ok if you turn the adjuster know a small amount.
