How can I confirm what size frame this is anyone, the seller thinks its a19inch. Anyway of telling from the photo? Thanks,
Trevor.
It is a 19.

And it has a triple-butted P2 also, but with a 175mm threaded steerer.

Thanks Anthony, counts me out then. If it was an 18inch I think I would have gone for it. For future reference and I know you have probably explained it somewhere before, how can you tell? Trevor.

My way to find out the correct sizes of old Kona's frame is measure from the centre of the b/b to the very top of frame seatpost tube, if it's 19" then the frame is 18".

17" frame will have 110mm frame headset tube length
18" is 130mm
19" is 150mm
20" is 170mm.

A 20" frame is the biggest Kona have built, and I have a 20" frame here, the headset length is 170mm, centre b/b to very top seatpost tube is 21"

Hope this helps

Right, I am confused now! Anthony says it is a 19inch frame but the seller states that when he measured from the bottom of the B/B to the top of the seat tube it was 19 1/2 inches. Going by what you have said if he measured from the centre of the B/B to the top of the seat tube that would make it roughly 19inches and a size 18inch frame. If its an 18inch I would increase my bid 18 or 19 :? ??????????????

Just found this from a couple of weeks ago. A 96 lava dome, 19inch frame. Looking at the tape measure it reads 20inches B/B to top of seat tube making it a 19inch. The seller for the 94 lavadome says the same measurement on his frame from the bottom of the B/B was 19 1/2 inches. Move that measurement to the centre of the B/B taking off half an inch making it 19inches B/B to top of seat tube. This would make the 94 bike a 18inch frame. I have asked the seller to measure the headtube and he says he is 5'6'' tall, a bit short for a 19inch IMO! Any thoughts or corrections?

Seller says head tube is 130mm. That makes it an 18inch frame, doesn't it?

The measurements this chap have given you make this frame 18", yes that's correct.

Head tube lengths changed (became shorter relative to frame size) when the geometry went suspension-corrected in '94. My '94 20" Kilauea has a 150mm head tube. The 19" '96 Explosif currently for sale on eBay has a 130mm head tube (I asked).

Centre-to-top gives the frame size (in inches) - the seat collar and Pythagoras can add a few mm. So a frame that measures 18" centre to top is an 18" frame, not a 19" frame. Yours is a 21" frame. They were made - see the geometry table here, for example:

No, that's a 20".
