'94 Kilauea Seat post clamp size.

Hi

Sorry if asked before -I couldnt find it in a search.

I trying to find the correct Seatpost clamp size for a '94 Kilauea. Tech support on the Kona Onwers forum advise 28.6 but this doesn't fit as too small.

That's surprising. Tech is supposed to be Doug Lafavre (Dr Dew), the frame designer since way back when. But maybe Tech is a group of people, whoever happens to be awake at the time.

You need what's called a 30.0, although the Kona ones actually measure 31. The seat tube is externally butted - it is a 28.6 tube, but the external butting at the top takes it out to 29.8, hence you need a 30mm clamp.

Got a 30.0 and it works a treat. Contacted the kona forum and asked them to double check and they confirmed 28.6 :-( That really gives me confidence.

I know where I'll be asking questions in future.
