I've managed to get back my old 1994 GT-RTS3 that I sold about 4 years ago and I'm planning to tidy it up. Now I think it's in good shape for its age but the frame as a few chips in the paint and the silver paint on the rear swingarm isn't pristine either. My initial thoughts are to strip the paint on the frame polish it up and strip the rear swingarm and then paint it black. For the components I've some wheels with 1994 Hope Ti hubs and 1994 Mavic rims I can put on it which will enable a 8/9 speed rear cassette to be fitted and if I can source some 8 spd rapidfire shifter pods then I'll upgrade it to a 24 speed, my thinking being 24 speed was available back in '94 so I'm not upsetting the retro theme too much. I'll either get the Mag 21's serviced or do a DIY service on them, has anyone got any tips on the Noleen rear shock also how easy is it to source a spring? (not as light as I used to be)
As for the brakes I'll probably leave it on the STX Canti's unless anyone can advise if Vee's were available back then. It's got Panaracer Smoke & Dart tyres on it, is it possible to still get hold of these or will I have to go for some more modern rubber?
