I know this, It just seems really odd too have a 1k frame.. and lower end parts..

Some people are smart and buy the best best frame their budget can afford and build it up within budget knowing they can always upgrade parts gradually.

Better than putting a saddle on a jackass.

Have seen way to many XT equipped Outposts the past few years. After all the frame is the heart of the bike. If you put light parts on a seven pound steel frame it's still going to ride like a seven pound steel frame

So you suggest old steel BSO will be better than all high end Kleins an Cannondales for example. If I could know it before I may spare some money. Now that's just silly. All depend from a rider and what he like. If you prefer steel, that's fine but you cant just say all the rest alu is rubbish.

Sorry, maybe I get you wrong, I should ask at first why you state Outpost with XT will be better than 5 pound aluminum frame? If you explain it to me I'll take it back, everyone have bad day from time to time  In fact I thought 5 pounds are just under 2 kg, my bad.

Basically I am just saying that overweight steel usually handles better than overweight alu.

Given everything else is equal.

:)

A lot of the lower end steel Konas from back in the day, for example, ride beautifully relative to their more expensive alu siblings.

Remember when Alu was the new black?
