Re:

That chain looks like it could do quite some damage to the swingarm, have you had any issue with it?

Re:

I guess our current blistering summer heat ( ) has meant no proper test ride yet al?

Re:

I can't ride it until I have the oil in the shocks replaced with treacle or something of equal viscosity!! The shock blows through it's 50mm of travel by just sitting on the bike. There was no weight rating on the springs before I painted them a tasteful gold.... the forks need servicing too.

At some time in the bikes life it was abused so much I'm astonished it wasn't totally fooked.
The shock bolts were miss matched and only one was the correct length, the other was snapped in two, so there was nothing holding the shock assembly in place. The rear was therefore misaligned... both the shocks were nackered, one of the damper shafts bent and the other in two bits, I had new ones remade as well as the shock housing fettled into a cylindrical shape once more. The drive side drop out was so out of whack that it was touch and go if the swing arm could have been pulled back in to shape.... I left the room when that was done... and on it went.

The owner must have just been riding with the shocks completely compressed and the back end being battered to death!

I will take the bike out for a wee ride once the shocks have been sorted, then I have to make the decision if I sell the frame to someone that's waiting for me to come up with a price for him. I haven't worked out how much this build has cost with the bare metal paint etc... but I bet I'll lose on the sale! haha, that's life aye, the things we do for love. :D

Looking for something else, stumbled upon this, glad I did now, just wow! don't think I have ever seen one before :cool:

So, have you still got it, have you ridden it yet, and how does it ride if so?

Pleased you like it.
I only ever rode it a short distance after the oil change in the shocks. The springs are too soft, and it just sagged through the travel!
I gifted the frame to Jeroen at https://mountainbikemuseum.nl/ but have not been over to deliver it yet.

Ok, two things, firstly I'd forgotten about these too, such a mad design, glad this popped up. Secondly, I was in Arnham cycling last month (road sportive, for my sins) and didn't know this museum existed, bu99er!
