Heres my current build in progress..
93 Alpinestars AL-MEGA XTR Frameset (thanks to Jonnypie13)
Manitou 3 forks,(looking for a set of 2's)
XTR M900 chainset with LX chainrings,
XTR M900 STI shifters/brake levers,
XTR M900 Canti's,
XTR M900 headset,
Controltech seatpost,
Grey Mavic 231's laced to DX hubs.(on the look out for XTR M900 hubs).

To finish it, im thinking of a Controltech bar/stem combo in silver 0 degree rise, M900 f+r mechs, M900 BB etc...

I bought the frame knowing it had faults/damage.
It had a split down the seat tube area,so that was my first job.Pic below shows the repair job. The guy that welded it said the repair weld could be ground down and polished but i dont think it looks too obvious??
Also, the front mech hanger has been removed or snapped off? so im looking into getting a new one made.
Lastly, well known fault with these old alloy frames....the headtube has a small crack. Again, this is going to be welded from the inside and hopefully invisible

Im still in 2 minds wether to finish this build as i fancy a nice non-estay frame with rigid forks.
I like a frame with a sloping top tube which the al-mega doesnt have..
So, if anyone fancys a swap just let me know what you've got!

That looks nice - I'd build it and have fun with it until a steel HT turns up that takes your fancy.

Where did you get it welded?

Nice to see a new lease of life for this frame... :D

Would love to see it built up fully, before you move it on... 8) 8)

Is it just the angle of the photo, or is the rear mech hanger also missing?

I'd build it even if I was going to move it on at a later date... 8)

Thanks..
I know I should finish it, but fancy a non estay frame similar to a kona, but not a kona if you know what I mean!?

I 'll look to see if I've got an alpine stars seat post & stem ,A bit tatty but not bad for free.I'll post some picks later.
