Lovely, very retro in that format! Frame looks like newer shape though, not sure exactly when they changed shape design then from like that black one to like yours. Mine BITD was like that black one.

Interesting - when was/what is the change in design - I need some citurs education.

The balck one and mine look very similar - top tube is a bit different.

Any info appreciated. :D

As mentioned, the earlier ones had a shorter head tube (and usually a longer stem) that made for a very low and streched riding position. The position where the stays joined the seat tube was also lower. Think they changed around '91. By 1993 all the cables were routed along the top tube.

And IRC Mythos are at least as good, if not better, than Ground Contols

And speaking of Mythos......... 8)

hmmmm beeeeer - that mythos is making me thirsty :D

agree nothing wrong with mythos just wanted to get her as original as possible - have now tracked down some GCs.

I have a almost identical set of wheels - 231's on XTs just a not nearly as minty as the ones on here so they can be the regular going out wheels with these IRCs fitted.

While I'm at it whats the history with these mythos tyres - I've accumalated a few sets now - 1 pair new for £9.99 online - are they all old stock or did IRC just make skinwalls up until recently?

Thanks to everyone for the education on the frame geometry as I understand it mine is somewhere in the middle of the evolution - before top tube cable routing but after the head tube/top tube/seat stay re-configuration.

Went to the platers this afternnon to pick up the bits but was 5mins late and they had all gone home gutted :( thats it 'till the end of next week now as I'm away with work

A few bits arrived today :D

Ground Control Kevlars, (thanks manitou916!), and the outer chain ring freshly annodised :D

Also got my trusty X Lite 535 straights re-annodised, (orignially blue then stripped them silver BITD), am going to fit these as the original bars are starting to bubble a little bit and they'll complete my favourite front end with the SS5s and thumbies.

should get this finished at the weekend :D :D

Finally got around to finishing this off - final spec on page 1 of the thread.

Didn't need to do much really just:

➡️ Put some OEM Specialised GCs on (thanks manitou916!)
➡️ Replaced the Orange Bars/Ritchey Grips with some X Lite 535 Straights and Porcipaws (personal favourites)
➡️ Replaced the Brake Cables with some NOS SLR ones
➡️ Replaced the rear brake with a NOS DX one
➡️ Replaced the front brake link wire.
➡️ Fitted new rear gear cable.
➡️ Re-annodised the outer chain ring - not totally happy with the colour - not glossy enough but it will be tougher than paint
➡️ Fitted a XT shifter clamp to the R/H shifter as there was one fitted on the L/H shifter and I'm not a fan of the DX clamps.

Also gave it a strip down and regrease (hubs, rear mech, headset, cassette), agood clean up and a polish with some Mer :D

Pics attached - the light was fading so I'll replace them soon as they are rubbish and I still can't photo the brilliant orange colour :x

Hopefully a ride this week :D :D :D :D

Any feedback appreciated. :D

Splitting hairs (who me?) but that is what I think a 1992 Prestige looks like. Could you put me out of my misery by telling us the serial number please?

And I'm also sad enough to be interested to know what it says on the black sticker on the seat tube.

Should really start a thread of my own, but this is newly built up and after putting a few miles on it, i'm extremely pleased. Compared to my modern front suspended Sanderson Life all this has is really heavy steering. Just got hold of a replacement headset to see if that cures.
